How to Reclaim Your Priorities (Without Adding More to Your Plate)
yLet’s be real—when life feels like a never-ending to-do list, the last thing any of us wants is to hear that we need to “do more.” But what if reclaiming your priorities isn’t about adding, hustling, or squeezing more in?
What if it’s actually about subtracting?
This post is your permission slip to stop chasing the illusion of “balance” and start focusing on what actually matters—to you, right now. Not last year, not someday—this season. Right now.
The problem isn’t that you’re not doing enough
You are doing a LOT. But being busy is not the same as being aligned. That feeling of spinning your wheels? It’s usually a sign that your priorities have been hijacked—by culture, expectations, guilt, or comparison.
The 90-Day Mindset Shift: Less doing, more deciding
Forget “perfect balance.” It’s time to choose the right focus. Here’s how:
1. Reflect on the season you’re in
-
Ask: What’s happening in my life right now that requires my energy and attention?
- Recognize your current season and honour it. Your priorities will change from season to season—and that’s okay. Your kids’ ages, your stage in career, life moments and changes…all these things can affect where your priorities fall from one season to the next.
- Your worth is not measured by productivity. Choose fewer, deeper priorities and let a “messy” season still be meaningful.
2. Define what matters most for the next 90 days
-
What would truly make the next 90 days meaningful?
- Pick 3–5 focus areas that reflect your values in this season.
3. Use priority mapping to align your time
Take a look at your calendar, your schedule, and your to-do list. For every entry, ask yourself: Does this support my current priorities?
If not, consider pausing, delegating, or letting it go. Alignment brings peace. For more inspiration, check out the 4D List resource and make it a habit to see what you can Delete, Delay, or Delegate (or, if you have to, Do).
Final Thoughts
You’re not failing—you’re just carrying too many “priorities” that were never yours. This season can feel lighter. Let’s stop doing all the things and start doing the right things.
