Creating Confidence and Curiosity Through STEAM:

A chat with Anthonia Ogundele

In this week’s episode of Mom Camp: Around the Campfire, I’m joined by the incredible Anthonia Ogundele, founder and executive director of Ethos Lab Educational Society. We dive into how she’s transforming after-school STEAM (science, technology, engineering, applied arts, and math) programming by centering culture, identity, and community — especially for kids who may not traditionally see themselves in STEM fields.

Anthonia shares the origin story of Ethos Lab, how storytelling and cultural identity play a role in STEAM learning, and the ways her organization is helping young people find their place and voice in these spaces. We also dig into a powerful discussion about AI — the concerns, the promise, and the importance of young people (and parents!) understanding and engaging with this rapidly evolving technology.

This is an inspiring, thought-provoking conversation that goes beyond the basics and looks at how we raise empowered, curious, and critically engaged young people — while also helping parents navigate this fast-changing, complex area of society with confidence and awareness.
