The Power of Collaboration and Connection Between Moms

Guest post by Jenn Wint

As an entrepreneur and a solo business owner, I’m in charge of a lot. I wear all the hats—CEO, copywriter, project manager, accountant, HR, stationary purchasing etc etc. Most of the time, I work alone, managing the behind-the-scenes of both my business and my family life. I love the career I’ve created and the flow of work and client calls between the school run, field trips and coffee shop meetings. But it can be a lot of pressure to keep all the balls in the air and there’s often a lot of different narratives in my head at once. I admit, I thrive in the chaos, the noise and the activity but from time to time I crave some quiet.

All year I look forward to Mom Camp and that feeling of stepping away from my life and taking a huge exhale into the forest, breathing out breath I hadn’t known I was holding in.

When I get out of the car and carry my pillow into the main hall at Mom Camp, something shifts. The snacks are laid out, the meals are taken care of, the wine is poured for me. The fire is lit. The schedule is already set. Everyone is smiling. The only person I need to look after… is me. That alone is such a treat. But what truly fills my cup is the space and permission to be totally myself and connect with others who’ve gotten that same permission coming through the door. Whether we know each other already or we’ve just met, we are all there to let the weekend happen, keeping ourselves and our needs at the centre of it.

Effortless Connections

There’s a kind of magic that happens at Mom Camp. There are no pressing deadlines. No rushing from one thing to the next. Just time and space to slow down, breathe, and show up as you are – jammie pants, comfy sweater and Blunstones.

It’s not about small talk or surface-level networking—it’s real, raw, and incredibly meaningful. The environment is created so intentionally that connection doesn’t have to be forced—it just happens.

In the gently led workshops, movement classes, activities, nature walks and spaces between, something beautiful happens: we chat and share. We listen deeply. We learn from one another. We reflect. And maybe most importantly, we’re given the permission to be vulnerable—to talk about the things we keep tucked away in the margins of our busy lives.

From Connection to Community

In my three years of Mom Camp I’ve met some incredible women. Some have become clients of my PR business. Some have become close friends. And others are people I follow on social and cheer on from the sidelines as they chase their goals, build their businesses, grow their families and pursue the dreams they hatched at camp.

It’s a bond that forms quickly, but lasts. It’s rooted in a special weekend, a shared experience where many of us cried, laughed together, no makeup, no masks. A space where honesty isn’t just allowed—it’s welcomed.

These aren’t just “mom friends.” It’s what true community feels like. For a group of women who support others around the clock, it’s refreshing to be the priority.

Finding the Spark

There is something undeniably powerful that happens when a group of moms are brought together and genuinely looked after. When we’re not in charge of everything for once. When we’re given the space to rest, reflect, and be real.

When we’re given permission to focus on our own needs, our own growth, and to give ourselves the care and attention that we so often give everyone else, there’s a spark that gets brighter.

At Mom Camp, we’re not just recharging. We’re reconnecting—with ourselves, with each other, and with the parts of us that sometimes get buried under the weight of all we carry between the daily tasks. That connection and the collaboration that comes with it, is powerful. We see each other and know we’re not alone.

I’ve always left Mom Camp with a little fire in me. It’s a reminder that there’s so much potential in me, that I still have the ability to be myself and maybe even better than I was. I feel a little more ready to take on everything life throws my way. And to manage all the things in a way that prioritizes me and keeps a little of the mom camp magic alive until I get to go back next year.
