Knowing when it’s okay to drop some balls:

A chat with Naomi Tucker from Planners on Purpose

In this week’s episode I am chatting with Naomi Tucker from Planners on Purpose. Naomi is a professional meeting and event planner and a mom, and is very familiar with high stress and long days. Even working in an industry that demands adaptability, quick response, and frequent pivoting, nothing can prepare someone for the impact of a global pandemic. Unsure of what would unfold, Naomi has navigated through the unknowns and helped companies to stay connected in a virtual setting. Added pressure that comes with being a leader in that space is the feeling like you can’t stop, you can’t take a break, or you will lose relevance and opportunity.

With juggling the pressures of work, momming, and virtual school, we chat about when it’s okay to drop some of the balls. It’s about know which balls to drop, which battles to fight. She has some fantastic advice about little adjustments we can make, shuffling things around, to ensure our families can thrive in these challenging days. It’s all about doing what works for you and your family in this season, and releasing the expectations of what we think we “should” be doing and how we should be doing it.

Novelist Nora Roberts once gave some awesome advice that completely connects with today’s episode: “The key to juggling is to know that some of the balls you have in the air are made of plastic & some are made of glass. And if you drop a plastic ball, it bounces, no harm done. If you drop a glass ball, it shatters, so you have to know which balls are glass and which are plastic and prioritize catching the glass ones.”
