3 Kid-friendly Breakfasts for Busy School Days

Yumble is a weekly subscription service that delivers prepared, balanced, and delicious kids meals right to the doors of busy parents. Children have specific tastes and nutritional needs, so we always prepare and tailor every menu with this in mind. Meals are intended for children ages twelve months to twelve years, and we find the sweet spot to be right around ages three to six years old (but have customers of all ages!).

We all know that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, but it has a unique role in your child’s diet, as a filling breakfast is crucial to a successful day at school. Preparing a nutritious breakfast is a great way to promote your kid’s physical and mental health, but it doesn’t always seem possible on such a busy schedule.

Luckily, there are a number of ways to make a healthy breakfast without losing valuable time in the morning for other important tasks. These are some of our favorite recipes to help you save time without sacrificing the flavor or nutrition of your child’s breakfast.

English Muffin Pizza

Whole wheat English muffins are a healthy breakfast option for kids and adults alike, and this is the perfect opportunity to turn your English muffins into a more filling breakfast.

Start by hard-boiling a set of eggs to have ready throughout the week. Each morning, toast however many English muffins you need (one per pizza), then add olive oil, tomatoes, and slices of egg. Top with mozzarella and oregano, then broil in the oven for about five minutes.

If you’ve prepared the hard-boiled eggs in advance, this healthy kids meal can be put together in just ten or fifteen minutes. They’re a great way to make sure your children stay full all morning when you’re short on time.

Chocolate Croissants

These luxurious pastries may sound tough to make, but it’s actually easy to put them together in under 20 minutes. All you need are a tube of crescent rolls along with some semisweet chocolate chips.

Preheat your oven to 375 degrees, then place the unrolled dough on a baking sheet. Put some chocolate chips (around 10) on each roll, then roll it up to seal the croissants. They should be ready after baking for ten to fifteen minutes!

Yogurt Parfaits

Yogurt is extremely beneficial to a child’s health, and they’ll love eating it with granola and fruit in a parfait. This breakfast has the added benefit of giving your kid a chance to get involved in the meal prep process.

Aside from your favorite yogurt and granola, you can experiment with different toppings like honey, fresh fruit, or maple syrup. Opening up to different choices will help your child grow more accustomed to trying new foods and other things they aren’t familiar with.

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, but it can also be the most difficult to prepare during busy school mornings. These quick recipes will help you put together something healthy that your children will love in 20 minutes or less.

The Myth of Getting it Right

The Myth of Getting it Right

I’ve been hearing from moms a lot that their biggest concern when it comes to being a mom is “getting it right.” This completely resonates and breaks my heart at the same time. We are SO hard on ourselves. Whether it’s the onslaught of media content and frightening news stories, or the comparison game of social media convincing us we’re not measuring up, there seems to be a general feeling that NONE of us are doing parenting “right.”
